For me it’s not about how many reps or types of movements you can do. It’s about what you can do with the overall skill gained for the body. By that I mean, from gaining knowledge, experience and strength through training in different ways, you can learn to heal, move, teach and perform better. If you are a seeker you gradually connect more and more dots over time which leads to a deeper level of understanding and mastery of your body. I’ve been training in bodyweight skills and combat sports since I was 7 years old - once I saw that there are so many connections, synchronicities and consistencies through all the movements I was learning, I began to connect the dots. Through decades of school study, self-study, emperical research, sport science and perseverance, I’ve been able to improve and enhance not only my own performance and understanding but also for a wide and global network of people. How you end up using knowledge you have gained to manifest things into your life is down to how you understand, treat and respect that knowledge and it’s applications. On one level, Gold is just shiny jewellery. On another, it is the most stable electrical conductor and metal on Earth. Perspective! @bodyweightgurus www.bodyweightgurus.com

Lord of the Fishes / in half-Lotus When you adopt certain positions, your mental state changes. For instance, raising the arms and pushing the chest up creates confidence and energy. This asana is an extreme throat and chest (external) / heart (internal) opener, so it makes me feel more open and compassionate. The head upside down is a 180 change in perspective on the world. It also brings the crown/top of the head in touch with the earth’s surface, rather than always being above it when we are standing. Mobility = Options, efficiency and full expressive capability Stretching isn’t only useful for creating better movements through the joints though. Like resistance/weight-based training, it also causes micro-tears in the muscle, which heal back stronger. This is known as stretch-induced hypertrophy. All training is a form of injury, since the training causes the muscles to tear and the reformation/enhancement of those fibres through healing/recovery is why we improve. Take a moment every day to stretch for 20 minutes minimum. Like most things which are worth having, it doesn’t come easy. But once you start on the path of discipline, it always starts to get easier as your body becomes accustomed to the feeling and you will start to enjoy it! (in a weird, love the pain type way).
