Today was a bittersweet Sunday. We celebrated the Risen Lord, Hallelujah! But it was also the last Sunday for our founding pastor. Jay has counseled us, married us, baptized all three of our children, and shared his wisdom and love with us on a weekly basis. We will miss him deeply. #jonahscall #easter2018 #teamsavisky
YOU GUYS. Glen, from @wearetherichards photography came and spent a morning with us a few weekends ago and photographed us doing our normal daily stuff. It’s called a rhythm session. The photos make me smile from ear to ear. I want to print and frame them all and carry them in my wallet and and maybe put them on a mug. This is the stuff I want to remember forever! I know in just a year’s time our daily rhythm will look so different. But right now it’s full of family walks, nursing babies, playing trucks, and reading books. These photos are so much more valuable to me than all 5 of us posed and smiling (although I love those too!). I love that with this type of photography, I get to see the focus on Bryn’s face when he’s playing, remember how Amos is always either pulling my hair or attempting to pull out my earring while he nurses, and see the way our sweet boys look at their Dad. My heart is a puddle. I’m so thankful for these people, this home, this joyful, normal, messy, blessed life. And I’m thankful for Glen!!! Hire him if you needs photos of anything, ever. #teamsavisky
“Marriage has the power to set the course of your life as a whole. If your marriage is strong, even if all the circumstances in your life around you are filled with trouble and weakness, it won't matter. You will be able to move out into the world in strength.” - Tim Keller A little over six years ago we went on our first date. I’m feeling thankful for where we’ve been and where we’re going and that we’ll always be “we.” What a gift.
My husband designed this family seal we had been talking about for about a year and gave it to me on our 5th anniversary! Here’s his explanation: I designed a family seal for future (and current) Saviskys to wear as medallions, stamp into wax seals, etch into cavern walls, fly banners over alien planets, wave from the mast of pirate ships, ensconce in golden rings, bury in time capsules, toss into sea-faring bottles, burn into leather, and brand onto livestock. If you’re wondering what it means: Felix means happy, but we’ve expanded it to joy. Honor and Wisdom are Bryn and Amos’s actual middle names. The Latin phrase, though it has some simplified modern translations, most literally means: to glorious places through narrow spaces. Redwoods live the longest and grow the tallest because they grow in community, their roots literally fusing together. The goldfinch, for the blood-red splash of color on its head and the way it eats thistle seeds, is associated with Christ’s crucifixion. The thistles themselves were once seen as powerfully curative. The globe pinpoints our location. The Roman numerals are our wedding year. The stars, the cross, the beams of light, and the music are just things of beauty which we love for various reasons. The S is self-explanatory.
I sometimes like to half-jokingly ask Michael if he thinks our kids know that we love them. He just laughs at me. Amos Wisdom, our last baby, is officially 10 months old. He’s sleeping through the night!!! He has almost 6 teeth. He signs hi/bye, milk, all done, and strong. He says bro (for Felix), Nin (for Bryn), uh-oh, Mama, Dada, and he’s working really hard on a few more words. He speed crawls everywhere; he can make it up the steps before we realize we’ve left the gate open. He loves his paci, sleep sack, and sound machine. He gives kisses and hugs when you ask. He loves his family and we love him! So grateful for this guy. What a gift to have him! #amossavisky
Five years ago we stood on an altar and our pastor prayed over us, “Lord, grant that their wills may be so knit together in your will, and their spirits in your Spirit, that they may grow in love and peace with you and one another all the days of their life. Amen.” I’m thankful for answered prayer and for this handsome man, my very best friend. Life is so lovely and exciting with him. #teamsavisky #forever
