Arlparra, Utopia, NT Australia 🇦🇺 • We're in the very remote outback of the Northern Territory, Australia. Lucky enough to be able to travel a bit of our home for work. We're working with Aboriginal health services & I couldn't go past this gorgeous mural of local 'bush tucker' that can eaten or used. • We drove for 3.5 hrs on mostly dirt roads just to get to this local store, pretty much the only place in the area that has reliable reception & internet! • Stay tuned for some more shots of Utopia! (When we get reception of course 😂) . . . . . #arlparra

Today the Deputy Mayor, and I represented the at the Graduation Ceremony in #Arlparra where 12 future employees graduated after completion of their Certificate II in Construction. All 12 graduates will commence work tomorrow on the ‘slow build’ of 2 new houses in construction dedicated to reinforce the learnings attained during training. The MyPathway facility also has a new commercial kitchen which will be used for training in hospitality skills. Congratulations to all 12 participants who graduated today. The time, effort and commitment by each of you has been outstanding. Also congratulations to MyPathways and the NT Government for making this project happen. All up, there will be 12 new houses built and vital infrastructure such as new roads constructed during the life of the project. I am firmly of the view that an holistic approach involving Council, the Australian Government, NT Government, Urapuntja Aboriginal Corporation (UAC), the CDP provider (MyPathway) and the residents will make a difference in the Utopia Homelands. I look forward to many more visits to Arlparra.

After spending the last 5 months living and working in an aboriginal community in the middle of the outback desert, I am finally back to civilisation! It has been an amazing experience, being able to get an insight into a way of life that most people will never see! After 24 hours of being back in town, I am slowly adjusting to how loud it is, and all the cars and people, but oddly missing how simple and peaceful it was to live in the desert. Time to hit the road again and see what else Australia has to offer 🇦🇺 . . . #arlparra
